In the final days of the Second War, Major Ambrosius Roth faces a seemingly hopeless task: holding the walls of the doomed hive against the massive xenos offensive. Lacking resources and reinforcements, Roth and his forces are outnumbered, outgunned, and, most importantly, running out of time.

As Armageddon burns and Tartarus crumbles, Sister Superior Sabreen of the Order of Our Lady of the Martyrs is the last protector of a saint's precious relics. But an evil has seeped into the very foundations of Tartarus, an evil that will force her to make an impossible choice.

Brother Gavriel, a young and unyielding Blood Angel, encounters both death and glory amidst the ruins of the shattered hive. As Imperial forces falter around them, the Angels of Death must fight their way to the dark heart of Armageddon in a relentless quest for revenge.

Faced with annihilation, each of them will have to decide the value of their sacrifice.
